Admin need to confirm soon please: according to the calc below, which seems spot on to me, how can there be 3 teams promoted when they simply cannot fit into Div 5.

The solution to me would be to increase the relegation number back to Div 6, (mostly caspers anyway) to 9 or 10.

Lets do math:
1st Division = 20 teams x 1 Division
2nd Division = 20 teams x 4 Divisions
3rd Division = 20 teams x 16 Divisions
4th Division = 20 teams x 64 Divisions = 1280 teams
5th Division = 20 teams x 256 Divisions = 5120 teams (currently highest Division)
6th Division = 20 teams x 1024 Divisions
7th Division = 20 teams x 4096 Divisions

Look at that numbers man... Currently the 5th Division is the highest one, no team in 4th Div, next season it needs 1280 teams. Here is how to count it: 1280/256 = 5 team got promotion.

Calculation is a bit complicated for promotion in 6th Division:
In 5th Division, from 20 teams, got cut 5 promoted, and 8 degraded, leaving 7 teams in each 5th Division. So, calculation will be = (7*256))/1024 = 1.75 teams got promoted.

There is plenty of room in the 5th Division for 3 teams to be promoted from 6th Division. 5 teams from 5th get promoted and 8 teams go down across 256 groups. So 13 x 256 = 3328. Top 3 from 6th Division go up from 1024 groups. So 3 x 1024 = 3072.

3328 places to fill
3072 teams to be promoted
space for 256 strongest 4th place teams to go up

Apologies, quite right Godson the logic was 13 spaces left, not 7.
So I wonder what the whole big deal was about only promoting 2 then. It seems everything was just fine the way it was!

Not promoting 2, but promoting 3 + 4th places have play-offs or smthn like that.

Yes, promoting the top 2 from Div 6 - read properly what @ranru has said in updates:

Does this also include groups that have only played for a week or two, such as the one i'm in (D6 G841)? It seems like it would be hard to compete with a Div 5 team that has had a full season behind it with a team that is only a couple weeks old. 11/06/2011 00:09
