Gurpreet was born in a small village on the outskirts of Pune, India. He was raised in a very different environment with his father being a catholic and mother a punjabi. Which also explains his unusual name. Having studied in a catholic school he was introduced to football at a tender age and was soon smitten by the sport in a cricket crazy nation. His teammates describe him as a humble yet crazy fellow who is the life of the party after four chugs. He has recently being offered in auction by his current club Gargoyles. Lets have a chat with him, so essentially the potential bidders will have a good chance to know him.

Q. Hi Gurpreet, welcome to my story© by Gargoyle-Press. whats your story with Gargolyes?

Gurpreet: Thank you for having me here. I have been with this club since its inception one and half seasons ago. When Spade came on as a manager, he knew nothing at all, but slowly he has proven himself and taken the club to new heights, err...did i mention i hate skyscraper's because i cant look down when i am on top. Ok... back to the question... I have really enjoyed my stint so far and am proud to be a part of era in this club where it rose from ashes to win Div 6 and currently lead Div 5 board. Its been a wild ride.

Q. Why the auction?
Gurpreet: Before putting me on the auction block Spade and I had a meeting and he explained his position to me. Basically the team is currently leading the Div 5 board, which has surprised us all not to say the least. We knew we would be competitive, but there are many good teams and they would have easily truncated us; And half way down we remain unbeaten. This has forced Spade to think of future and has been slowly trying to make the team ready for Div 4, if we get there. I love playing in the mid field, but then when I came across a few Div 4 teams in Private leagues, I knew I wold not be able to compete there. It was actually de-moralizing for me. I enjoy playing in Div 6 & 5 and my game is perfectly suited to the pace required here.

Q. So you would be open to moving to a div 6 club as well?
Gurpreet: Ideally no, but to be frank i have no qualms about that. I can play the same role i played at Gargoyles and Spade can vouch for the fact that i give my 100%. Whichever club i go to, I know i will be an asset. I would like to be a prt of a team in mid table Div 5 team or Div 6 team on the top half of the table, which wants a solid player in middle.

Q. Any memories from this season.
Gurpreet: My match against the FC Coltmania was blinder, I averaged 47 and played out of my skin for that one. we had a new IM & LF and the team dynamics were still changing. Coltmania attacked heavily on the left side and I was left shouldering a lot of responsibility to blunt their attack and convert them into quick counter strikes. It was fun day and I celebrated by drinking a whole keg at that night's after party.

Q. Thats all the time we have right now? write to us if you have any questions about Gurpreet and we will get them answered for you.
Gurpreet: Thank you for letting me tell my side of the story. Hopefully i will play atleast one more final match on the weekend, make sure you watch it..
