I'm interested to hear more experienced managers tell what their approach is to training juniors. My instinct to date has been to give them a well-rounded training, for all positions, kind of like I would if I had my mind set on promoting my juniors to my senior team in an organic way. But then I saw on the forums people saying they're "training midfielders" or "focusing on forwards", or the like. I'm guessing that means they're hiring a big bunch of juniors in the same general position, and focusing their training on those, basically like a position-specialized junior farm where you're aiming to get the highest possible quality product to sell on the market. While that doesn't feel right in the real world, the economics of it seem to make sense according to the current rules of the game. What do you recommend? |

Yup that's how it works. You buy a type of players, train them then sell them for 3-10 times what you bought him for (depending on how much you increased his average and how much you bought him for). It is a good source of revenue but long term......so maybe 2 seasons before seeing result. If you have some other juniors you have but don't train their position you can always loan to someone who does, or swap with someone for a position that you train, or just sell. Yes this doesn't happen in real life but that's how it works here |

So how do you choose what position to train? Just go on what the bulk of your juniors currently are, and work with that? And on the topic, if you have a junior squad that consists of entirely midfielders, say, chances are your junior team won't do very well in its matches. Does that make any difference to their morale? |

Well some people choose it on what kind of players are most expensive on market....valuable positions (like GK, CF's). But personally I had more mids than any other position so just chose them and since there is a wide variety you can easily train together (LM/RM/LIM/IM/RIM even DFM's and OM's).... Yes it affects morale of juniors if they lose. League games are mostly to help with motivation of juniors though(which we know affects training result). Not many people have that junior team set to win the junior league......bots sucks, others focus more on seniors and those who trains put high prog on (like mine which are less than 30 average) Edited by patient 07-02-2012 09:44 |

Not many people have that junior team set to win the junior league though... Do you mean by that that your juniors will do well enough even if the entire squad consists of midfielders? Or should I maybe keep one or two players for other positions so that my junior team performs better and keeps their morale up? Should I rotate my junior squad so that all players keep their morale up? ...and those who trains put high prog on (like mine which are less than 30 average) What do you mean "put high prog on"? |

Yes morale of juniors is affected if they lose. "Junior" league games is mostly to help with junior players motivation (higher motivation, higher training results). "Not many people.....".........means that it's not that hard to win junior games in lower leagues. Bots suck, some managers will play like I do (read what I wrote below), others will focus more on seniors and small part will go for the win..... High prog = high progression Progression is close to forecast of a player. I made golden searches (scout) and progression at 80+. Most of those players are low averaged juniors with very high forecast (80+). I put them on line-up so motivation is high and they train well. So my junior team is not the best but I'm 2nd in junior board of my league. Just use Psychologist everytime you think your juniors will lose.......rotating won't make much of a difference but if you care so much about it then yeah fill in other positions Edited by patient 07-02-2012 09:45 |
