When a player's release clause is below his actual worth.When it is met by another manager,the player is "hostiled". A player's salary directly affects his release clause. The higher the salary,the higher the release clause.To protect your best players from being hostiled,increase their salaries and re-sign your best juniors.
N.B. All managers below 8000exp points can't apply hostile clauses. Also,their players can't be hostiled until they've attained that height. Thanks.
