 This has been bothering me for quite some time.
What determines when a player gets skill points in a game?.
Is it at random?

 No, its not random.
It depend on the games he played.

They are rewarded when experience goes up. They are awarded at experience levels 3.00, 6.40, 10.00, 13.80, 17.60, 21.50, 25.50 and more. 		22/11/2016 21:21

 I think it make defenders do less fouls, and for attackers less being in the offside position.

Playing time, plus certain bonuses. For strikers, scoring a hat trick gives a good boost.

Try writing down the skill level of your players at the before each game and seeing how much they increase after the game.
